The Story of William Buckley
William Buckley, a convict, escaped from the first white settlement at Sorrento. He found his way around the bay to the Bellarine Peninsula and beyond where he lived with the aborigines for 30 years. He finally emerged from hiding on the arrival of John Batman, warning him of a plan by the aborigines to kill him.
